Angels of Death, identical twins…

“Angels Of Death” – a humorous take on mortality, that sneaks up on you – is a poem by the wonderful Terri Kirby Erickson, from her forthcoming collection A Lake of Light and Clouds, from Press 53. Today I put the finishing touches on my setting of this poem, as part of a cycle for soprano, on varied poems of life, death, and nature. Composers and readers: check out Terri’s work! It’s musical, and opens from the everyday onto the profound. I love it.

El Jaleo premiere

How sweet it is. Yoonie Han with a blazing premiere of my El Jaleo in a November 16 house concert. My music based on the famous painting by John Singer Sargent fit perfectly in her program of music of love and desire. Another highlight: her set of Liszt’s Schubert transcriptions. Now immediately she’s to record El Jaleo for Steinway Records, and then play it in recitals all over.

Fairy Tales and Lullabies
